2025 Olga Raffault Chinon Rosé, Loire Valley, France
ABOUT THIS WINE
Produced from 100% Cabernet Franc, this rosé is sourced from sandy and gravelly alluvial soils along the Vienne River, which lend the wine its signature freshness and approachability. The 2025 vintage is crafted using a combination of direct press and saignée methods, followed by spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel. It does not undergo malolactic fermentation, preserving its natural acidity and purity, and is aged in tank before bottling in the spring after harvest.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Olga Raffault never actually made wine—she was just the unforgettable owner for many years. Now her granddaughter Sylvie and Sylvie's husband Eric run the 24-hectare estate in the Véron, between the Loire and Vienne rivers, where five generations of Raffaults have worked. 23 hectares of Chinon from Cabernet Franc, just converted to organic, picked by hand, fermented native. The flagship Les Picasses from south-facing slopes speaks in a voice that's elegant and utterly Loire.
