NV Dehours Lieu Dit "Brisefer" Reserve Extra-Brut, Vallée de la Marne, Champagne, France
ABOUT THIS WINE
This single vineyard wine comes from chardonnay vines at the bottom of a gentle slope in Brisefer, planted between 1966 and 1992. An East orientation with clay soil which has leeched out most of its limestone.
Our grandfather, pioneer of grower champagne, saw that this was a perfect plot for champagne and used it for his top of the range wine. About a quarter of the land was replanted in spring 2015.
Production methods respect biodiversity (Working the ground and allowing grass to grow between the vines).
The wines are fully aged on the lees, in 200L, 300L and 500L barrels and clarified by natural settling, without filtration or fining.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Dehours was founded by JĂ©rĂŽmeâs grandfather Ludovic in 1930. It was JĂ©rĂŽmeâs father Robert who developed the estate and began a new activity of trading in grapes. JĂ©rĂŽme knew that he wanted to be a grower, studying first in Beaune and then at the viticultural school in Avize. Tragically, his father Robert passed away suddenly at the age of 50, in 1987. JĂ©rĂŽme was just 21 years old and was not ready to take on the responsibility of the domaine.
JĂ©rĂŽme Dehours farms 42 different vineyards in three distinct villages on the southern side of the Marne River. JĂ©rĂŽmeâs 14.5 hectares are split between the villages of Mareuil-la-Port, Oeuilly, Cerseuil and Troissy, in this quiet corner of the Marne. This area is just south of the Marne river at ChĂątillon-sur-Marne and Cuisles, where CĂ©dric MoussĂ© produces his exquisite wines. This area, the VallĂ©e de Flagot, is named for the small river which has carved out a winding valley called Le Flagot, to meet the Marne River.
