Founded by Gerhard Kracher and Aldo Sohm in 2008, Sohm & Kracher produces varietal wines from indigenous grapes in Austriaâs Weinviertel region, seeking to highlight the diverse soil profile and distinct microclimate.
When long-time friends Aldo Sohm and Gerhard Kracher decided to make wine together, they brought to the project decades of collective experience and a shared love of great foods and wines of the world â especially dry grĂŒner veltliner from their native Austria. They knew the focus would be GrĂŒner Veltliner grown in the Weinviertel made according to two basic principles: the wines should be (low to) moderate in alcohol and should never be unctuous in character. Since their first vintage in , they have kept a sharp focus on one variety â from the brisk, peppery âLionâ to the Chablis-like âSt. Georg.â
